Year 11 and 12
Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,
It was a very busy and productive Term 4 for the Senior School. Our students participated in a wide range of activities and programs throughout the term. Senior students attended Outdoor Education camps and excursions, school sports, and wellbeing incursions. Our VCE VM team led whole school projects to raise money for various charities. Our Senior Instrumental students also entertained audiences over the past few weeks. Arts and Technology students showcased their achievements through ‘Show Off,’ which has been a fabulous culmination of our students' talent and hard work throughout the year.
Year 11 Achievements and Transition
Our current Year 11 students have completed their exams and assessments. We would like to congratulate every student for the commitment and academic endeavour demonstrated during this integral part of their schooling. These exams provided an opportunity for students to demonstrate key skills and concepts in their subject areas and were also highly beneficial in preparation for Year 12 end-of-year exams.
Year 11 students finished formal classes for their 2024 coursework on 1 November, with the results for Semester 2 subjects now being finalised. Their transition into the Head Start program (18–29 November) has been smooth, providing an excellent opportunity to become familiar with course outlines and complete coursework for their future VCE and VCE VM studies. Please ensure that all attendance and work requirements are met during this very important two-week period.
Farewell to the Class of 2024
This term, we farewelled our 2024 Year 12 cohort with a whole school formal assembly, a run through the school grounds, and a last school day countdown. On Tuesday 22 October, the class of 2024 completed the last official day of their thirteen-year education! A whole school assembly was held to congratulate the class, with speeches from the school captains, principal, and senior school leadership team. A slideshow presentation capturing the highlights of their journey provided a fantastic snapshot of life at Sunbury College and contained many treasured memories. Students also walked a lap of the school being applauded by their peers and teachers, then gathered for a final countdown at the end of the day to recognise their achievement.
On Wednesday 23 October, students celebrated by dressing up in the morning and attending a BBQ with their teachers, parents/carers, and staff in the evening. This major event on the school calendar provided a wonderful opportunity to recognise the strong partnerships that play such an important role in the education of our students.
We wish the class of 2024 all the very best for the remainder of their end-of-year exams and future pathways and careers. We look forward to further celebrations at the Year 12 Graduation on Thursday 28 November.
Warm Regards,
Senior School Team
Highlights from the term
Year 11 VM Pizza Stall Fundraiser
For their community engagement project, the VM Class did an amazing job working in their teams to organise a pizza stall, a teacher vs. student soccer match, and the Pizza for Teachers initiative. The day went very well, with the sun out, a great crowd and an exciting match that entertained everyone.
Christmas Food Drive
Year 11 VM Class 2 are running a food collection drive. We ask that you kindly donate pantry items (on the list only) to the front office. These items will be donated to Sunbury Neighbourhood Kitchen and placed in Christmas hampers for the local community.
