Lego Robotics Club

This is the second year Sunbury College has been part of the First Lego League Challenge program and many of the Year 7 students who were part of this program last year continued their participation this year with new students from this year's Year 7 cohort joining us. 

It has been a busy term as we entered final preparations for the regional challenge held on 15th November. Students on the innovation team, led by Gabrielle Woodward, have designed an innovation project based on the 'Submerged' theme where a concept robot called MDTSR (Master Dragon Turtle Saving Robot) explores the ocean saving turtles from the many hazards that face them such as increased pollution and rubbish. The robotics team, jointly led by Emily Rees and Utkarsh Bhatti, have shown significant perseverance and capability in solving missions when facing the many challenges involved in designing, building, and coding their robots to meet the varied demands of the different missions.

The robotics team competed for a spot at the nationals against over a dozen other teams.

The competition table and robots were on display again at this year's Show Off where students demonstrated their hard work and achievements from 2024.
