CHES Expo Session

On Monday the 25th of May, students in Year 10 and 11 attended the Centre for Higher Education Studies to investigate studies in VCE and University subjects available to students in partnership with Taylors Lakes Secondary College.

This was an opportunity for high-ability Year 10 and 11 students across Victoria to explore future study pathways, connect with university representatives, and learn more about CHES programs. Students took part in interactive sessions, heard from CHES alumni, met like-minded peers, and discovered how CHES can support their next steps towards VCE success and university study.

Students were supported by Mr Rick Hudson, Assistant Principal who works closely with the TLSC VCE program.

Here are some valuable insights from students who attended on the day…

"The CHES Expo was an enjoyable excursion which provided us with the opportunity to attend the Centre For Higher Education Studies in South Yarra. At the event, we were introduced to former and current CHES students who told us about their experiences at CHES, both in studying their VCE subjects as well as a wide range of HES subjects.

We had the opportunity to speak to student and staff representatives from CHES and participating universities such as Monash, UniMelb, RMIT, Deakin, Swinburne, VU, Federation, and LaTrobe to learn about what HES subjects they offer as well as potential future courses we can study.

It was an insightful day which helped provide some clarity surrounding future subject and course selections!"  Thank you for this opportunity!

CHES is very helpful with planning future studies for students who want to further their education in highschool. Their staff are very friendly and willingly answer any questions that students have about courses/subjects, and they have a wide range of universities that they're partnered with.

The CHES Expo was really helpful in allowing me to see and know my options for year 12, and I was able to feel more assured in what I wanted to choose. It was also great how detailed the different sections were as I got a look into what I might like for university and my future.
