Library News

The library remains a lively and inviting part of the school community, with students regularly spending their free time enjoying books, board games, puzzles, and the range of activities available at recess and lunchtime. It has been fantastic to see students socialising, building friendships, and making the most of the library’s engaging and inclusive atmosphere.

Fostering a lifelong love of reading remains a key focus of the library. As a proud Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge (VPRC) school, we support Year 7 students to participate in the challenge, along with interested students in Years 8–10. Students can access the VPRC website via the star icon on Compass using their EDUPASS login credentials.

Parents and students are also reminded that Wheelers eBooks and audiobooks can be accessed through the Infiniti library management system or via the star icon on Compass. Students can log in using their Compass username and the password ch@ngeme

Reading continues to be a major focus this term, with May and June seeing a significant increase in borrowing across Years 7, 8 and 9 as students select novels for the English Reading Response Unit. The library team conducted sessions for all classes aimed at helping students identify suitable genres, discover new authors, and borrow books matched to their reading level and interests.

The library continues to showcase the talents of our VCE Music students. Early this term, staff and students enjoyed a lunchtime performance featuring all VCE Music students, creating a supportive and appreciative atmosphere within the library space.

Our library displays, crafting workshops and lunchtime Kahoots continue to be popular ways to celebrate important events and engage students in the broader life of the school.

This term we commemorated ANZAC Day with a themed display, poppy-making workshop, film clips and a Kahoot activity. We would also like to sincerely thank Matt Karipoglou for generously allowing us to display his Army Reserve uniform in the library during the week.

Shortly afterwards, the library proudly celebrated IDAHOBIT Week with a range of activities and displays promoting inclusion and respect.

A reminder that the library is open before school from 8:00am, during recess and lunchtime, and after school until 4:30pm Monday–Thursday and 4:00pm on Fridays.

We encourage students to make the most of this welcoming space — whether they are looking for a great book recommendation, research support, ICT assistance, or simply a safe and inclusive place to relax and connect with others.

We hope you enjoy the photos from our recent library events and activities.
