After being postponed twice, our Whole School Athletics Carnival finally went ahead on Thursday the 16th of July at Casey Fields! It was a fantastic day of competition, participation and Sub-School spirit, with students getting involved in a range of track and field events.
A special highlight of the day was the Year 12 Lap of Honour, giving our graduating students the opportunity to celebrate their final Whole School Athletics Carnival with their peers and teachers.

We were lucky enough to have the GIRLS program run a Lolly and Snack stall, while the DARRABI program hosted a Sausage Sizzle, which were both popular throughout the day.

Congratulations to Mirrim Sub-School, who finished with the highest overall points and were crowned the winners of the 2026 Whole School Athletics Carnival!
Well done to all students who participated, represented their Sub-School and contributed to such a positive and enjoyable day.

It has been a very busy and successful term for Interschool Sports at Kambrya! Our students have enjoyed plenty of wins, competed across numerous Regional events and proudly represented the College at State level.
State Cross Country
Congratulations to our six students who proudly represented Kambrya College at the State Cross Country Championships on Thursday the 16th of July. Competing against the best runners from across Victoria, our students put in outstanding performances and represented our college with absolute pride.

Congratulations to all of our students on their fantastic achievements. Representing the school at State level is an outstanding accomplishment, and we couldn't be prouder!
Division Athletics
On Tuesday the 8th of September, 52 students represented Kambrya College at the Cardinia Division Athletics, competing across a range of track and field events.
It was a fantastic day of competition, with Kambrya finishing 2nd overall against 8 other schools across the division. Our students performed exceptionally well, achieving 82 podium finishes across the day:
1st places – 36 x in individual events and 2 x in the relays.
2nd places – 24 x in individual events and 3 x in the relays.
3rd places – 16 x in individual events and 1 x in a relay.
25 students have now progressed to the Southern Metropolitan Regional Athletics, which will be on Tuesday the 6th of October.
Congratulations to all students who represented Kambrya at the Division Athletics, and we wish the best of luck to those who have progressed to Regionals!

Year 7 Girls Netball
Our journey from Divisions to State was an amazing experience, especially because we remained undefeated throughout Divisions and Regionals. At Divisions, one of the biggest highlights was seeing how well we worked together as a team and how strong our connection became despite us all playing for different clubs. We supported each other on and off the court, which helped us stay confident. At Regionals, half of our team had actually come back from camp that same day, which made the achievement even more special. Despite being tired, we worked hard and stayed positive. Sarah, our Year 12 coach, played a huge role in our success. She took the time to train us, helped us improve our skills and made sure we understood how important teamwork and communication were. Her commitment and encouragement helped bring our team even closer together.
Making it to State was definitely one of the biggest highlights of the whole competition. We knew it was going to be challenging because we were playing against schools with sports academies and highly experienced teams. Our school and only one other school were the only government schools competing. Even though we were up against strong competition, we never gave up and continued to support each other. What stood out most was how much our teamwork had developed since Divisions. We trusted each other, communicated well and played as a team rather than individually. Despite not winning the state title, reaching State showed us how far we had come and how much our hard work, training and strong connection as a team had paid off.
Overall, what we enjoyed most about Netball Interschool Sports was the experience of playing with such a connected team and creating memories together. It was not just about winning games; it was about the friendships, teamwork and confidence we built along the way. From staying undefeated at Divisions and Regionals, to returning from camp and competing at Regionals, and then facing sports academy schools at State, every stage challenged us in a different way. Having Sarah as our coach also made the experience special because she dedicated her time to helping us become better players and a stronger team. We will miss her next year and hope she comes and coaches us again.

Oztag Senior Competition
On Tuesday the 4th of August, some of our Senior students had the opportunity to represent Kambrya College at the Secondary School Regional Oztag Tournament.
The boys won 3 games, and lost 1 in the round robin matches, and progressed to the Semi Finals. Unfortunately they lost in the Semi Finals, but had lots of fun in the cold weather!

Lightning Premiership Competition
As part of Kambrya’s partnership with St Kilda Football Club, our Year 9-12 girls were invited to participate in the Lightning Premiership AFLW Competition.
This was a great opportunity for our girls to represent Kambrya, play as a team, and gain valuable experience competing against schools outside our regular Division. The day was not only about playing footy, with students also taking part in a range of fun activities, including a handball competition, ‘guess the lollies’, and a raffle.
Year 9 student, Alarah Bakar, was named Kambrya’s Best on Ground, and was presented with a signed AFLW jersey from a current AFLW player in recognition of her outstanding performance.

Five Iron Golf & DFO Excursion
Our Unit 1&2 VET Sport, Aquatics & Recreation had the opportunity to visit Five Iron Golf in Mentone and explore DFO Moorabbin as part of their Provide Quality Service unit.
Students observed customer service in real-world sport, recreation and retail environments, identifying effective communication, professionalism and strategies used to create positive customer experiences. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect classroom learning with authentic industry experiences.
Treetops Excursion
Our Unit 3&4 VET Sport, Aquatics & Recreation students recently visited Treetops Adventure in Belgrave to take on the high ropes course while putting their Work Health and Safety (WHS) knowledge into practice.
Students identified hazards, assessed risks and examined the control measures in place to ensure the safety of participants and workers. This hands-on experience provided valuable evidence for their WHS SAC portfolios.

Melbourne City Excursion

Our Elite ADP students recently had the opportunity to visit Melbourne City Football Club in Casey for an exclusive immersion day.
Students toured the elite training facilitates, heard from the Melbourne City’s Women’s Head Coach, and gained insight into the club’s football methodology and playing style. They also put their learning into practice during an elite soccer training session on the pitch.
The experience provided students with valuable insight into how professional sporting clubs operate and what it takes to perform at an elite level. It also encouraged students to consider how they can continue developing their own skills, knowledge and professionalism as they work towards representing elite clubs and representative teams.

Congratulations to our Year 7 student, Grace Bocor, who was selected to represent Victoria in the 12 & Under School Sport Team for AFL. She represented Victoria at the National Championships in Canberra from the 2nd-9th of August.
Team Vic ended up winning 5 out of 6 games, finishing as silver medallists. Grace was named best on ground in her game against Queensland, playing as Centre Half Forward, kicking plenty of goals. This is an amazing achievement, we are incredibly proud of Graces’ efforts!

Congratulations to our Year 9 student, Alarah Bakar, who won Runner-Up Best and Fairest in her Footy League. This is an incredible achievement and a fantastic recognition of her hard work and talent.
She has also just been selected for the V/Line Cup program, which is another fantastic achievement!
