Principal's Message

Dear Students, Parents and Guardians, Staff, and Community Members
As Term 3 has ended, we have had some memorable experiences across our Kambrya community. From exciting camps and cultural exchanges to classroom achievements and creative projects, school production, chess tournaments, debating competitions, Book Week, Staff v Student sports and much more. Our students and staff have embraced every opportunity with effort and enthusiasm. A big thank you to our families, teachers, and support staff for your continued dedication and positivity.
We look forward to an exciting Term 4 ahead as we close out our 2026 academic year and start our 2027 commencement program.
2026 NAPLAN Results
The NAPLAN results are in — and wow, what a moment to celebrate! Again for the fourth year running, our incredible students at both Year 7 and Year 9 have absolutely achieved some fantastic results.
Across every single area of NAPLAN, our results have soared well above the state of Victoria.
A quick, two-page highlights summary is below — take a moment to check it out and see just how remarkable these results are.
Staff at Kambrya College continue to work hard and strive to be one of the highest performing schools in all of Southern Melbourne. Our staff are backed by data and driven by the daily hard work and dedication of our entire school community. We have already completed a full review of areas that we can continue to work on to develop even stronger results moving forward into 2027.
We, again, all share in these results. It’s the result of students giving their all, parents and carers backing them every step of the way, and staff who pour their expertise, energy, and care into every lesson, every day. Together, we are continuing to align our community with our college values — and it shows.
To our students:
Your effort and perseverance absolutely do make a difference. Whether you’re celebrating a personal best or still striving for the next milestone, remember: learning is a lifelong journey. Keep showing up, keep giving your best, and keep aiming higher.
We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you. This is your achievement, your moment, and your proof that when we work together, we can achieve outstanding things.
Production
The annual musical production “We will Rock You” again showcased that performing arts continues to excel at Kambrya College! The team performed 5 shows across the week, which were all a great success. A huge congratulations to all the students who made up the cast and crew, and also to all of the hard-working staff who gave their time to the production.
Special thanks to Ms Liz Violi who took the lead on this year’s production, Mr Adrian Violi, and Ms Leya Mackus who were tight there with Liz to produce the show. After completion of the main production, the team have quickly switched their attention to our first ever Year 7 only production which will occur late in Term 4. We wait with pure excitement to again see the display of the amazing talent our Year 7’s have to offer.
Year 12 Students
Our amazing Year 12 students are almost at the end of their secondary school journey. Our VCE VM Year 12’s have been completing their final graduation/portfolio interviews while our VCE students are preparing for their examination period. We wish them all the very best in their final chapter and we look forward to celebrating with them on their celebration day and Valedictory evening. Special thanks to all the Year 12 teachers who have been supporting them all year.
Camps
Our Year 7 and 8 students had an unforgettable time at camp this term. From outdoor adventures to team-building activities, both camps were full of fun, growth, and new friendships. A huge thank you to our staff and camp organisers for making it such a memorable experience.
2027 planning and school zone
We are well underway with our planning for 2027, which includes determining course pathways and managing the subject selection process for all students in Years 8–11. Thank you to everyone who met the deadlines for submitting subject selection forms — your prompt responses have provided us with the most accurate data possible to guide our planning.
While our students enjoy a wide variety of subject choices, elective subjects will only run where there are sufficient enrolments, as determined by the Principal. If an elective does not attract the required numbers, students will be placed into one of their nominated reserve preferences.
Looking ahead to 2027, we again anticipate welcoming more than 450 Year 7 students, all from within our designated school zone. While we would love to accommodate students from outside our zone, our new zoning requirements must be applied consistently. To clarify, we are unable to accept out-of-zone enrolments for any special programs, including the Select Entry Accelerated Learning Program (SEAL), Athlete Development Program (ADP), Musician Development Program (MDP).
Brentwood Park Primary School
I have been working closely with Brentwood Park Primary School regarding Kambrya College students using the junior playground at their school, particularly during the time they are waiting for the bell to sound. Brentwood Park have kindly requested our students to move off the equipment and use the nearby seating areas instead, which would allow our primary students to safely enjoy the play space.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind all students about the importance of waiting respectfully while on school grounds and being mindful of younger students who rely on this space for play. Please also be aware that the junior playground located on their northern boundary is designed for primary-aged children and is not suitable to support use by teenagers.
It is Kambrya Colleges preference that all Kambrya Students who are waiting to collect their siblings from next-door to please wait on Kambrya College grounds until the end of day bell goes at Brentwood Park. Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a safe and respectful environment for all students.
Uniform
It’s wonderful to see so many students proudly wearing our uniform items, with the newer additions to our uniform proving especially popular across all year levels. Thank you to the families who support us with this.
As a reminder, throughout the remainder of this year, classroom teachers and Engagement Leaders will be ramping up monitoring uniform compliance and following up with students and families where incorrect items are being worn, to be able to support families moving into 2027 to fully understand the requirements.
Hoodies have never been a part of the Kambrya uniform. They pose a safety risk because of the potential for students to "hide" anonymously by pulling up their hoods. There are now plenty of warm uniform options for students, so there is never a reason for students to wear a hoodie. Uniform passes WILL NOT be issued for students who wear a hoodie to school. Hoodies will be confiscated and parents notified. The hoodie will be returned when the students collect it at the end of the day. If a student is caught twice then a parent will be required to collect it from the front office.
Our policy can be found on our website if any families are unsure.
Scooters and Bikes
I know this might sound like a broken record, but can I please remind all parents to please have a discussion with your child about the safe use of these when out in the community. Please also check that your child has a helmet and enforce that they wear it to and from school. Not only because it is the law, but obviously for their safety. Victoria Police and members of the public continue to raise concerns of the use of these while students are coming and on their way home from school.
Students have also been reminded that they must place their scooters or bikes within our bike shed. We have had some students that have been chaining their bikes to external fences on the footpaths. This is interfering with our public entrances and exits. Students placing their bikes in these locations will have them removed.
Car Parking
I know that traffic is difficult in this area, however I implore all parents to please ensure that you do not contribute to safety issues. Please do not use the college carparks or bus stops at the front of the school for drop off/pick up. Please do not double park. Please do not use the medical centre car park for your drop off/pick up point. Please attempt to use agreed drop off/pick up points with your child(ren) in some of the surrounding streets; picking up at the front of the school is not the only option! The council are enforcing parking laws and are issuing fines.
Please all have a safe and happy break. See you all again in Term 4.
Kind regards,
Martin McDonald
Principal
