Tree Day at Kambrya College!

On the 31st July this term, the Darrabi, GIRLS, Year 10 Environmental Science class and Environment and Sustainability Committee planted approximately 300 plants. We planted the trees to increase biodiversity and promote a greener aesthetic for the oval. We are quite happy as we managed to plant 3 times the amount of trees than we planted last year! We were also excited to see amazing growth in the older trees from last year. These trees were planted in celebration of national tree week.

“It was fun as! It was a nice way to bond; I made a new friendship with Riley, and it was nice to work with one of our grounds workers Luke.” – Wejdaan, Year 10

4CS Showcase - Bunjil Place

Gallery Image

This year, we had 16 students from Kambrya College participate in the 4Cs Showcase at Bunjil Place. This group of students from both junior and senior school collaborated, planned, choreographed and practiced together to put together beautiful performances representing both our school and their cultural heritage to the wider community.

It was so special seeing our wonderful students supporting and encouraging each other and executing the plans they had put in to motion under the bright lights on stage at Bunjil Place. We are so proud of them and the hard work they put into this project across Term 3.

Well done to our 2026 4Cs performers:

Being given the opportunity to participate in something that embraces and celebrates your culture, rather than making you feel the need to suppress it, creates a unique sense of confidence and belonging. In a country as diverse as Australia, it can and sometimes has been difficult to feel that our identity is fully represented or understood. So then, having a space where you can openly celebrate your culture and share it with others makes that feeling of belonging even more meaningful.

This was my second year participating in 4CS. Last year, my friends and I were invited by our school to perform the dance we had prepared for our Culture Day at Bunjil and initially, I was really hesitant. Performing at such a large venue, surrounded by so many schools and students felt incredibly intimidating. However, what I took away from the experience was far greater than I had anticipated. The sense of acceptance, belonging and community I experienced through performing and celebrating alongside others is something I will always carry with me.

That experience made us all look forward to returning to 4CS this year. In fact, I was so excited that I had already begun organising costumes by the end of last year. But returning for a second year has allowed me to appreciate the event in a different way. It is not simply an opportunity to perform; it is an opportunity to represent something that is a part of who we are and to do so with pride.

4CS gave my friends and I a space where we can genuinely be ourselves, but it has also taught us the responsibility that comes with representing our cultures. We have learnt that representation should not be approached half-heartedly. It has encouraged us to challenge ourselves and ensure that we are representing our culture in a way that we can be proud of. We really hope to see more people from our school next year- for everyone to feel confident in their culture.

We are so grateful to everyone that works, organises and encourages one another to put this amazing event together. Thank you.
