Year 9 Darrabi/GIRLs Program News

Darrabi Program
Term 3 in Darrabi.
Over the past term, the boys have been involved in a range of experiences that have taken their learning well beyond the classroom.
Our visit to the National Gallery of Victoria allowed students to explore First Nations artwork and make connections between art, history, culture and the 1967 Referendum. At the Shrine of Remembrance, students continued their historical learning through a focus on World War I, including personal stories that helped bring the experiences of those who served to life.
Our partnership with St Vinnies also provided a valuable opportunity to look beyond ourselves. The boys worked together to prepare rough sleeper packs for people experiencing hardship in our community. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed items or made donations. Your generosity helped make this experience even more meaningful.
The boys also stepped up during Athletics Day, taking responsibility for cooking, serving customers, handling EFTPOS transactions, calculating change and working together throughout the day. It was fantastic to see the teamwork, initiative and persistence on display.
Schools for Wildlife joined us at school, with Ellie working alongside the boys as they planted native species around our grounds. Students learned about the role native plants play in supporting local wildlife and strengthening the environment we share.
Across all of these experiences, the boys have continued to build practical skills, develop a stronger sense of community and understand how their actions can make a positive difference to others and the world around them.
