UNSW Writing Democracy Challenge: Phase 1! 

On the 14th of September, Alisha Prasad and Jaida Boga of Year 8, and Carlie Lim of Year 10, participated in the first phase of the University of New South Wales' Democracy Writing Challenge. These students were tasked with writing an 800-word letter to their local mayor or to the Secretary of the NSW Department of Education, expressing their views on an important issue affecting their community.

This challenge provided an excellent opportunity for students to engage with democratic processes and develop their persuasive writing skills. I commend Alisha, Jaida, and Carlie for their thoughtful participation and look forward to seeing their contributions unfold in the next and final phase of the challenge: A trip to NSW Parliament House!
