Upper Hume Champions

 

Congratulations to our Senior Girls who won the Table Tennis Upper Hume Championship yesterday at the Wangaratta Table Tennis Association.

 

The team of Year 11 students, (Hannah Dods, Amarina Huggins, Naomi Roberts and Bethany Tanner) defeated Victory Lutheran College 5-1 to claim our 3rd Upper Hume sport title for the year so far.

 

Three of them won their Singles rubbers - #2 Seed Tanner (15-7, 15-5, 15-3), # 3 Dods (15-5, 15-9, 15-12) and #4 Huggins (15-3, 15-2, 15-1).

 

They also clinched both the Doubles rubbers - Roberts & Tanner (15-12, 15-3, 15-1) and Dods & Huggins (15-4, 15-6, 15-4).

 

They now progress to the Hume Region stage, the final step before the State Championships.

 

Our Senior boys (Year 11s Harry Hyland, Skelly Manning, Mark Joseph Sitoy and Merlin Tzaros) finished Runner-Up, beating Victory Lutheran 6-0 but going down to a strong Wodonga Senior Secondary College outfit 0-6.

 

In their win, Singles scores were #1 Seed (and recent Triathlon & Aquathon Australian Champion) Tzaros (15-4, 15-7, 15-17, 15-12), #2 Hyland (15-5, 15-9, 15-10), #3 (and last year 3rd in Victoria Cross Country Skier) Manning (15-3, 15-5, 15-10) and #4 Sitoy (15-4, 15-10, 15-10).

 

Doubles scores were Manning & Hyland (15-8, 15-7, 15-7) and Tzaros & Sitoy (15-8, 16-18, 12-15, 15-8, 15-10).
