Japanese

Konnichiwa, Monty Community!
Year 3/4 students have been learning about Obento (Japanese lunch boxes). They compared Japanese and Australian lunch boxes, identifying and drawing the similarities and differences they noticed.
Students also learned about popular foods commonly found in Japanese obento. They were surprised to discover that some Japanese food words are now commonly used in Australia as English words, including sushi, nori (seaweed), tamago (egg), and onigiri (rice ball)!
It was wonderful to see students making connections between Japanese and Australian food culture while expanding their Japanese vocabulary.
