Community Gratitude 💚💛
I often say that schools are all about people, and I genuinely feel incredibly fortunate to lead such a wonderful school community. Every day I see examples of kindness, generosity and people giving their time to make Montmorency Primary School a better place. Whether it's supporting a fundraiser, volunteering at an event or simply contributing to the positive culture of our school, thank you. MPS is a special place because of the people in it, and I never take that for granted. As you'll see throughout this newsletter, many of the successes and opportunities we celebrate are only possible because of the collective efforts of our amazing community.
Pasta Drive Success 🍝💰
A huge thank you to everyone who supported our recent Pasta Drive fundraiser. Thanks to the fantastic response from our community, the school received just over $500 through a share of each order placed. We'd also like to extend our thanks to Nick's Negozio for partnering with us. They are wonderful supporters of local community groups and we greatly appreciate their contribution to the fundraiser's success.
Mulch Spreading Thanks 🌱🚜
Another recent community effort was not financial in nature, but just as valuable. A few Fridays ago, a terrific group of volunteers came together to spread 10 cubic metres of soft-fall mulch across our two playground areas. It was wonderful to see such a broad mix of our community involved, from future 2027 MPS students proudly pushing their wheelbarrows to parents, carers and family members lending a hand. Thanks to the many helping hands, a significant job was completed in no time, and our playgrounds are all the better for it. Thank you to everyone who gave up part of their afternoon to help out.
Oval Upgrade Update 🏉🌱
I know many members of our community are keen to hear more about the proposed oval upgrade and where things currently stand. While there is no major update to report just yet, I continue to explore every possible avenue to spread the cost of the project across multiple stakeholders, as the scale of the upgrade is simply beyond what the school could reasonably fund on its own.
Our Capital Works Fund application remains in progress, with outcomes not expected until October. At the same time, I am continuing to work closely with AFL Victoria, with AFL Victoria and School Council currently negotiating the details of a potential partnership proposal that could help support the project.
While there are still plenty of moving parts, I remain committed to pursuing every opportunity available and will continue to keep the community updated as developments arise.
Parent/Student/Tecaher Conferences Reminder 👨👩👧👦📅
A reminder to families that Friday, 11 September is an adjusted school day to accommodate our Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences. On this day, students will not attend regular classes and will only be onsite when attending their scheduled conference with their parent/carer and teacher.
If you have not already done so, please begin making any care arrangements required for your child on this day.
Further information, including conference booking details and timelines, will be shared via Compass shortly, so please keep an eye out for upcoming communications. We look forward to the opportunity to celebrate progress and discuss learning goals with our students and families.
