Performing Arts & Music

                        Junior Performing Arts

The Junior School has been busy creating their very own songs in the Performing Arts classroom! Inspired by and adapting the lyrics from Eastern Rosella by Miles Phillips, students have been exploring their creativity through songwriting, singing and performance.

Our Foundation students have been working together to create a class song based on an animal chosen by their class:

  • Foundation B: Capybara

  • Foundation J: Cheetah

  • Foundation C: Lynx Cat

Our Grade 1 students have been working in small groups to create their own songs about an animal of their choice. We have heard some wonderful ideas, from saltwater crocodiles and green tree frogs to fluffy bunnies!

The Grade 2 students have been taking on the challenge of creating their own solo or duo songs about an animal of their choice. Their creativity has certainly shone through, with some students choosing to write songs about train lines and even a favourite fruit!

Students will continue to practise their songs in class before performing them to their peers. Some students may even accompany themselves on the ukulele while they sing!

It has been wonderful to see the students working so collaboratively and enthusiastically throughout this project. Their creativity, confidence and willingness to share their musical ideas have made this a very enjoyable Performing Arts experience!
