MINIMUM STANDARDS

Minimum Standards: Essential Information for Senior Students and Families

Dear Parents and Students,

The next Year 11 date to attempt the Minimum Standards is Monday 27 July sessions 1 to 4 in C Block computer rooms, but I am concerned that time is running out for Year 12 to meet all of NESA Minimum Standard requirements before graduation.

Meeting the Minimum Standards set by NESA (the New South Wales Education Standards Authority) is mandatory for students to receive their HSC certificate. These standards are comprised of three components: Numeracy, Reading, and Writing. It is concerning that, as graduation approaches, a significant number of our Year 12 students have yet to meet all three requirements.

With only three attempts remaining for Year 12 students to meet the standards before graduation, we must act now to ensure that every student can succeed.

The upcoming assessment dates for Year 12 students to attempt the Minimum Standards evaluations are as follows:

  • Monday 22 June - Sessions 1 and 2 in the library.
  • Friday 24 July - Sessions 1and 2 in the library.
  • Wednesday 26 August - Sessions 1and 2 in the library, if needed.

We understand that preparing for these assessments can be stressful, but we believe that with the right support and preparation, every student has the capability to meet and exceed these standards. Here are some strategies that parents and students can employ to maximize their chances of success:

  1. Encourage Regular Study
  2. Use Available Resources that have been posted in the Year11 and Year 12 Google Classrooms.
  3. Seek Support. Contact myself to attempt Practice Papers and to access free tuition through the Wyndham College Shine Program and discuss strategies with your teachers to meet the standards.

If you have any questions about the Minimum Standards assessments or how we can further support your child, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Warm regards,

Denis
