Primary update
Primary Girls
MECS vs Flinders B was the opening game and was kicked off by 3 quick goals scored by Levi, Sienna and Olivia. Levi finished off the game with a stunning hattrick for a 5-0 win.
MECS vs Flinders A was a highly contested game with MECS spending most of the time in the attacking half and with Olivia scoring a tidy goal for a 1-0 win.
MECS vs Belgrave had both teams working hard switching between attacking and defending. Caroline and Willow scoring two break away goals for a 2-1 win.
MECS vs Northside was a hard fought game with 0 goals conceded in the first half. But come the second half the toll of playing 2 players down with no subs for the tournament finally arrived in a 0-3 loss. Even when defeated the girls played with heart and passion all the way to the end.
Primary Boys
The boys played as a team throughout the tournament. Passing the ball, working the triangles, supporting each other. Each game was tight. The flow of the tournament was a loss, a draw, a win, a draw, a loss, and a draw that was decided by sudden death that went to 5 shots to each team. A true delight to watch and a great cheer team that demonstrated how to support with style, cooker, hot tea, the works.

Student Reflection:
Thunk! As my boot connects with the ball, I dribble and then pass to Will... he dribbles down the field a bit more and passes to Harley who smashes it into the back of the goal - we all cheer and high-five him!
Crash! Asher is down, some of our team get cross, the ref does not blow the whistle for a foul. The Flinders Team has just pulled Asher down by his t-shirt, but he gets back up again just as the ref blows half-time! We are losing 1-0.
Will goes on and gets a good goal and then its suddenly 1-1! Then Harley scores another goal and it’s 2-1, and then our team hangs on... we win! We celebrate by giving each other high-fives and having a snack at our bags.

Secondary Update
The CSEN State Soccer Championships were a fantastic day of competition, teamwork, and resilience. We had 6 MECS teams competing across the day, our students showed incredible encouragement, positivity, and team spirit both on and off the field. From early matches to the final whistle, they represented MECS with determination and character. It was great to see students supporting one another and giving their best across every game.
A special shoutout to our Senior Girls team, who went undefeated through to the Grand Final and finished with a well-earned silver medal.
Their resilience and composure throughout the day were outstanding.
We are proud of every student who represented MECS so well and we are already looking forward to next year!
