Year 10 Australian International Academy Visit

Recently, we (Year 10s) visited the Australian International Academy on an interfaith exchange excursion. We got to share about the Christian faith, and the AIA students did a presentation about Islamic faith. We got to chat with some of the students in groups and visited the Mosque. It was an immersive and worthwhile experience, we were able to connect with those with a different opinion than us in a really healthy way.

A group of Year 10 students got to do a Q and A time with Mr Mahoney, where we shared about Christan faith and explained things like sin, how Jesus saves people and what it means for Jesus to be our Messiah. The people at the Islamic school were so kind and welcoming, they were very curious about Christian faith and wanted to get to know us, they asked lots of clarifying questions. It was cool learning about the Islamic Faith, The Quran and experiencing their newly built Mosque.

Overall, the experience was super positive. We got to connect with people our age and learn about different faith perspectives from their point of view. It was an incredible experience that helped both the MECS Year 10 students and the AIA students to get rid of stereotypes and to learn from each other.
