Term 3 2026
Welcome to Term 3! It has been a wonderful start to the term, with students returning full of enthusiasm, ready to learn and embrace the many exciting opportunities ahead. We have so much to look forward to over the coming weeks, including Hooptime, Athletics Day, our Scienceworks excursion, Book Week and our swimming program. These experiences provide wonderful opportunities for students to challenge themselves, build friendships, and create lasting memories. We are excited for another busy and rewarding term and look forward to sharing these experiences with our school community.
Hooptime
Our Year 3/4 students had an outstanding day representing our school at Hooptime, held at Nunawading Basketball Stadium. They played with enthusiasm, determination, and exceptional teamwork, giving their all in every match.
Throughout the day, it was wonderful to see students supporting and encouraging one another, celebrating each success, and showing resilience and respect both on and off the court. Their positive attitude and sportsmanship were a credit to our school, and we are incredibly proud of the way they represented our community.
A massive thank you to our dedicated staff, Year 6 student helpers, parent volunteers, and families for their encouragement, enthusiasm, and support. Your contribution played a vital role in making the day such a memorable and successful experience for our students.
Congratulations to our Future Star Girls team on their exciting 8–6 Grand Final victory and to our Future Star Boys team on their dominant 17–6 Grand Final win.
An incredible achievement by both teams—well done to all our players!
Athletics Day
Our Athletics Day was a fantastic celebration of participation, teamwork, and school spirit. Students enthusiastically took part in a range of events, including high jump, hurdles, shot put, discus, and fun novelty activities. It was wonderful to see everyone encouraging one another, trying their best, and demonstrating excellent sportsmanship throughout the day. Congratulations to all students for their enthusiasm and effort in making the day such a success!
Inquiry
This semester, students are beginning an exciting Science and Design Technologies unit exploring forces, heat energy, and the way products are designed to solve real-world problems. They will investigate how forces such as friction, gravity and magnetism affect the movement of objects, and explore how heat is transferred between materials. Students will also examine how the design and features of products influence their function before applying their scientific knowledge and problem-solving skills to create and evaluate their own solutions to a design challenge.
English
This semester, we began with an author study, exploring the writing style and storytelling techniques of Chris Grabenstein before diving into our class novel, Escape from Mr Lemoncello's Library. Filled with puzzles, mystery and adventure, the story encourages students to think critically, make predictions, and explore themes of teamwork, perseverance and problem-solving. We look forward to engaging discussions and activities as we follow the characters on their thrilling journey.
Mathematics
In Mathematics this term, our Year 3 and 4 students are building their confidence with multiplication and division through a range of hands-on activities, games and real-life problem-solving tasks. They are developing flexible strategies to solve number problems and explain their mathematical thinking. Students are also exploring angles by identifying, comparing, and measuring them in everyday objects and shapes, helping them better understand how angles are used in the world around us. It has been wonderful to see students challenging themselves and applying their learning with enthusiasm.
MilkLab House
Congratulations to Fletcher in Grade 3, who, with the help of his family, created an impressive house made entirely from recycled milk cartons. This creative sustainability project showcased not only Fletcher's imagination and problem-solving skills but also his family's commitment to innovatively reusing everyday materials. The finished house was a fantastic example of environmental responsibility, teamwork, and creativity. Well done, Fletcher and family, on your outstanding effort!
