TLSC Students Take on the Big Science Competition

We are proud to celebrate 9 of our students across years 8/9 who recently participated in the 2026 Big Science Competition, run by Australian Science Innovations.

The Big Science Competition is an online science challenge open to students in Years 7 to 10, with participants from schools across more than 100 countries. Over 50 minutes, students tackle questions spanning biology, chemistry, physics, and Earth and environmental sciences — all set in real-life contexts that put scientific thinking to the test.

This year, our students sat the competition in May and results have now been received. We are especially proud to congratulate Tarjan8J who achieved a Distinction, placing him in the top 15% of students nationally.

A number of students also received Credit and Participation awards, recognising their effort and commitment to giving the competition a genuine go.

Well done to all students for representing our school on a global stage. Taking on a challenge of this scale takes courage and curiosity. Qualities we love to see in our scientists of the future!
