Library News

With the end of term just around the corner, we encourage students to visit the library and choose some great books to enjoy over the holidays.
Reading in the library has continued to be a strong focus this term, with May and June bringing a wonderful increase in novel borrowing. As part of the whole-school Reading Response Unit, all students in Years 7, 8 and 9 selected a book to read and respond to. Library staff worked with each class to help students discover their preferred genres and select books that suited their interests and reading abilities.
The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is also in full swing! With the holidays providing the perfect opportunity to relax with a good book, students are encouraged to take part in this year’s challenge. The VPRC website can be accessed via the star icon on Compass using students’ EDUPASS login details. Students are welcome to speak with library staff if they need help getting started.
Congratulations to Leeara Borg of 8A for receiving the Library Enthusiastic Award for Term 2, 2026. This award recognises a genuine passion for reading and consistent engagement with the library. We hope you enjoy spending your $25 book voucher at QBD Books, Watergardens.
The library team has also been busy creating colourful displays and running activities to celebrate special events throughout the term. Our final celebration is all about pets and animals! Students enjoyed a week full of fun, including competitions, craft activities, a Kahoot challenge, film and book trailers, and a special display of animal-themed books ready to borrow for the holidays.
The library is open before school at 8am, at recess, lunchtime, and after school until 4:30 pm Monday to Thursday and 4:00 pm on Friday. Students are encouraged to make the most of this time by visiting the library for book recommendations, ICT support, research assistance, or simply to relax and enjoy our welcoming and inclusive space.
We hope you enjoy the photos showcasing some of our recent library activities and events.
