STEM

STEM at TPS has seen our lower primary students continuing to build on their Ozobot coding skills by taking on a range of exciting challenges which has strengthened their understanding of line coding. Students have demonstrated impressive problem-solving skills as they programmed their Ozobots to navigate tricky tasks and open-ended stories.
Recently, they have begun exploring the Ozobot Metabot world, where they can apply their line coding skills in an augmented reality environment. This exciting next step allows students to see their coding come to life in a new and engaging way!
Meanwhile, our upper primary students have embarked on a TPS first, MicroBit Wearable Technology project! Following the design process, students are identifying a need or purpose and creating a wearable solution using a MicroBit. The creativity on display has been quite impressive, with students designing interactive necklaces, watches and even headbands, each with unique features and functions. Our Grade 5/6 students are currently working through the design and prototyping stages of the project, while our Grade 3/4 students have recently been introduced to MicroBits and are building their understanding of the technology in preparation for launching their own wearable technology pieces at the beginning of next term.
The wearable technology pieces should be live on their Google Sites in the coming weeks - stay tuned!
