MUSIC

Kii from the Music Room!
F/1 and 1/2 classes have been putting rhythms in their bodies and onto instruments. Our main focus has been "ta, ti-ti and za". These words are used for rhythm in the earlier years so that students can say the rhythm as a sound rather than their traditional European note names (crotchet, quaver, quaver rest).
Students had the opportunity to play xylophones and marimbas! We played some Jon Madin classics Can You Click Your Tongue and I Wanna C, C, C as well as creating our own rhythms and melodies on the instruments.
Winter Solstice Lantern Walk
It is the time of year when we are practicing our Winter songs for the Lantern Festival.
Please help your child/ren practice at home by singing along to the recordings and finding out more about mid-winter.
Oh How Lovely is the Evening
Oh, how lovely is the evening, is the evening
When the bells are sweetly ringing, sweetly ringing
Ding, dong, ding, dong, ding, dong.
Maranoa Lullaby
Mum-ma war-un-no,
Mur-ra wath-un-no,
Mum-ma war-un-no,
Mur-ra wath-un-no.
Sleep as falls the dark,
In your bed of bark,
None shall harm you dear,
Mother watches near.
Lanterns On the Banksia Tree
Lanterns on the banksia tree,
Glowing there so cheerfully,
Can you keep the dark away?
Lovely winter flowers.
Wattles with your tiny suns,
Underneath the spotted gums,
Warm our hearts ‘til Spring time comes,
With its sunny hours!
Show Me the Way
As I walk into darkness, show me the way!
As I walk into darkness, show me the way!
Show me the way, show me the way.
Light my lantern and show me the way
As winter nights get longer...
Walk with me and…
