Green Wall

Students have chosen to construct a Green Wall with the some of the money they received from the VSGA win last year.

We have selected plants and last week collected a donation of pipes from Bunnings. We plan to drill into the pipes, fill them with potting mix and mount them on the Garden Shed fence. While none of us are engineers we are quietly confident that our plan will work!

We would however, appreciate volunteers with power tools to drill the holes for us.  Please send an email to claire.ballot@education.vic.gov.au if you are able to assist. Of course you are also welcome to join us by sharing ideas or by supporting us with the installation.

The students chose this project after seeing a Farm Wall during their visit to Kew High School earlier this year. They are very excited about the possibility of this wall being a great learning experience for all at the school.

We will also be planting into the ground. We are busy preparing the gound for the plants we have chosen. These include passionfruit and hardenbergia climbers. Dwarf citrus trees will also be planted into pots as well as native tussock grasses for any visiting native animals.

Nude Food Challenge

A big thank you to everyone who is helping to reduce waste by bringing nude food lunches to school. Every wrapper we avoid helps to reduce the amount of rubbish going to landfill.

When packing lunchboxes, try to use reusable containers instead of single-use packaging. Every small change makes a big difference!

Keep Our School Beautiful

Please remember to place your rubbish in the correct bins and help keep our playgrounds and learning spaces clean. If you notice a piece of litter, take a moment to pick it up—it only takes a few seconds and helps keep our school looking its best.

Lost Property is Overflowing!

Our Lost Property bins are filling up quickly!

Parents and carers, please help us by clearly labelling your child's uniform, lunch box and drink bottle with their name. Named items can be returned to their owners much more easily, while unnamed items often end up in Lost Property waiting to be claimed.

Thank you for helping us reunite lost belongings with their owners!

Guess Dumpling's Weight!

Meet Dumpling—our soft, squishy creation made entirely from recycled soft plastics and covered with a paper bag!

Every class has had the opportunity to:

  • Hold Dumpling
  • Guess how much Dumpling weighs
  • And they have submitted one guess.

The class that guessed the exact weight, or came closest to Dumpling's actual weight will win a special prize!

The winning class and the weight will be announced in the next Newsletter.

Thank you for supporting the Keen Green Team and helping make our school a cleaner, greener place to learn!

We welcome volunteers.

If you are able to attend for any Wednesday from 2.30-3.30 please contact
