Principal Report

As part of our ongoing school improvement, we have looked closely at feedback from students, families and staff, as well as attendance and learning data. This helps us understand what is working well and where we can continue to improve.

We have identified four key areas for our focus.

1. Making learning more engaging

We want every student to be challenged, supported and interested in their learning. Student feedback shows that engagement with learning is an area we can improve, with 67% of students reporting positively about stimulated learning.

What we are doing:

• Improving how we explain and model new learning.
• Checking regularly that students understand before moving on.
• Using student work and assessment information to plan learning.
• Providing extra support or challenge when students need it.
• Continuing to strengthen our approach to reading, writing and mathematics.

2. Giving students a stronger voice

Student feedback shows improvement in student voice and agency, increasing from 57% in 2025 to 61% in 2026. However, there is still more work to do.

We want students to have a clearer understanding of their learning and to feel that their ideas and opinions matter.

What we are doing:

• Developing a shared understanding of what student voice and agency means at BPPS.
• Giving students more opportunities to contribute to their learning.
• Using student feedback to improve classroom experiences.
• Helping students understand their goals and what they can do to improve.

3. Supporting wellbeing and positive behaviour

Our wellbeing results are encouraging, particularly around emotional awareness and managing bullying. We want to maintain this progress and continue helping students feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

What we are doing:

• Continuing our whole-school wellbeing programs.
• Supporting students to understand and manage their emotions.
• Using student feedback to identify areas where students need support.
• Building positive relationships and respectful behaviour.
• Continuing to strengthen the support provided by our Wellbeing Team.

Looking Ahead

Our focus for the remainder of the year is not about adding more programs. It is about making sure the things we are already doing are making a real difference for students.

We will continue to focus on:

Better learning. Better student voice. Better attendance. Strong wellbeing.

Most importantly, we will continue to listen to our students, use evidence to guide our decisions and work together with families and staff to ensure every student at BPPS has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
