What's Happening in Performing Arts?

Hello, my name is Paula Di Ciocco, I am the Performing Arts and Italian teacher at Mackellar Primary School.

Term two has been a wonderful opportunity to explore performing arts in an energetic, exciting and encouraging environment to learn various styles of music, culture and drama performances. Many students have received Buzz award certificates at assembly for their outstanding creativity and performances.

The Grade Preps have been singing and rehearsing for the end of term performance, “You Are My Sunshine” and we have had the opportunity to explore feelings and emotions in drama acting and performing with costumes.

Grade 1/2 – Students enjoyed learning the song, “What a Wonderful World” both in English and Italian. We have continued to explore drama plays, making puppets and performing in front of the class in pairs and in small groups.

Grade 3 / 4 – This term Grade 3 have performed the drama play, Ecco Pinocchio and Mangia, Mangia with Micio the cat both in English and Italian. The Grade 4 presented a Game Show to an audience. Students performed in the game show with presenters and contestants in small groups.

Grade 5 /6 –  We have continued to explore the Carnevale comedy drama play performances through writing an original script play in pairs and performing in front of an audience.

Looking forward to many more performances in the future.

Ciao for now,

Miss Paula Di Ciocco
