Wear It Wild

To support Earth Hour, Lumen Christi College held a Wear It Wild event on Friday, 27 March where for a gold coin donation, students and staff could dress as animals, wear animal-themed items or green accessories. This event was not just about promoting awareness about the environment but also to fundraise for the World Wildlife Fund to help protect our wonderful animals and regenerate nature.

At Break One, the Sustainability Stewards Team organised temporary tattoos, face painting and a photo booth. There was a steady migration through the stalls, with many stopping to strike their best pose.

Due to the weather, the costume parade was unable to be held, but it was great to see so many students and staff embracing their wild side.

Our wisest owls faced off in daily Homeroom quizzes to see who knew the most about sustainability. Congratulations to Year 10 Tangney who were our winning Homeroom.

The results for the Year 12 SpoGomi competition are in, with points going towards the Cartoni Cup. SpoGomi is the sport of picking up litter and in 10 minutes the students managed to find 7.96 kgs of litter. The winning House was Campbell, who picked up 3.5 kgs of litter.

What a grrreat day, and one that wouldn't have been possible without the creativity and hard work of the Stewardship Captains, Teliah Squillace and Hadiya Shefahi. All of our students truly embodied the spirit of Laudato Si' in caring for our common home and all of those who inhabit it.
