Harmony Within and Among Us

Reflection on Harmony Day
On Thursday 19 March, Lumen celebrated Harmony Day. At our Harmony Day Community Mass, it was truly powerful to witness our community come together through the 21 different languages spoken and the rich diversity celebrated. It is a vivid reminder of our shared vision to build a harmonious community where every culture, every voice, and every person matters.
Jesus Christ teaches us to love God and to love our neighbour. In wellbeing terms, this highlights three important connections: staying connected to God, learning to care for ourselves, and building healthy relationships with others.
An outside harmony begins within. It reflects the balance of body, mind, and spirit. When these are out of alignment, we feel unsettled; when they are nurtured, we experience calm, resilience, and clarity. From a mental health perspective, harmony is about aligning our thoughts, emotions, and behaviours in healthy and positive ways.
Harmony is not about having no struggles or avoiding conflict, but about living with humanity and humility, finding our strength in God, staying connected and supported, and choosing compassion towards ourselves and others each day, in small but meaningful ways.
What small act of compassion can you offer today to create harmony within and around you?
