Tye Smith is enrolled in the Certificate II in Cookery and was accepted to participate in the WorldSkills Competition 2026, which was held at Chisholm Frankston on 26 August 2026.
The WorldSkills Australia Cookery Competition runs on a two-year cycle, with 2026 serving as a crucial Regional Competition year. Hosted across various Tafe campuses nationwide, this grassroots phase tests the technical limits, creativity, and speed of thousands of young culinary students.
Contestants must design and execute high-end dishes under strict commercial kitchen pressures, under competition conditions, giving Master Chef vibes. I took some time to pop into Chisholm and take some photos, and was impressed by his two dishes, a Chicken Poke Bowl and a Choux Pastry Dessert.

Traineeship Program
Mornington Peninsula Shire are excited to begin promoting their 2027 Traineeship Program.
About the program
Our trainees are employed by the Shire for a 12-month program, gaining valuable on the job experience while completing a Certificate IV in Business. Along the way, they are supported to develop their skills, grow their confidence and explore rewarding career pathways within local government.
Information session
We will be hosting a community information session for prospective applicants to learn more about the program, including key timelines, the application process and insights from our current trainees about their experience.

Eligibility requirements
To be eligible for a traineeship, applicants must:
- Be aged 18 years or older and no longer at school.
- Be able to meet citizen, residency, and visa requirements to undertake a traineeship.
- Not have already completed a Certificate IV (or higher) qualification in Business or a similar field.
