Welcome to our first school newsletter for Term Two. I hope the break provided everyone with a chance to rest and recharge. It's been a positive and productive start to the term, and we’re excited to share some of the highlights and upcoming opportunities within our school community.

Thank you to all the parents and carers who attended our recent Wellbeing Evening. Your engagement and support play a vital role in fostering a strong, connected school environment. The conversations and feedback shared on the night were both insightful and inspiring.

We are already planning our next Wellbeing event in Term 3, and we encourage even more families to come along. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect, learn, and contribute to the wellbeing of our students and broader school community.

To help us tailor future sessions to your interests and needs, we’ll soon be sharing a short survey. Your input will guide the selection of topics that matter most to our families, ensuring our events continue to be relevant, informative and impactful.

Parents as Partners in Learning: The Importance of Parent-Teacher Evening

At Cecil Hills High School, we believe that education is a collaborative journey that involves not just our dedicated teachers, but also the invaluable support and engagement of our parents and guardians. Your involvement in your child’s education is essential, and one of the most impactful ways to foster this partnership is by attending our upcoming Parent-Teacher Evening.

Parent-Teacher Evening is an excellent opportunity for you to connect with your child’s teachers, gain insights into their academic progress, and discuss their strengths and areas for growth. These conversations play a crucial role in understanding how we can work together to support your child’s learning journey. By participating, you demonstrate to your child that you value their education and are invested in their success.

Moreover, this evening allows for open communication, where you can ask questions and share any concerns you may have. It is also a chance to learn more about the curriculum, teaching methods, and the various resources available to support your child’s learning experience.

We understand that attending these events can sometimes be challenging due to busy schedules, but we encourage you to make it a priority. Your presence not only enriches your child’s educational experience but also strengthens our school community as a whole.

Uniform expectations

Winter has arrived and we encourage all families to ensure their child has the appropriate winter uniform to stay warm and comfortable while maintaining our high standards of dress.

Please be reminded that hoodies and beanies are not part of our school uniform and are therefore not permitted.

Trackpants purchased from our Uniform Shop are only permitted to be worn to school on Tuesdays by Year 9 and 10 students.

Trackpants are not permitted at any other time.

Scarves purchased from our Uniform Shop can be worn by all students.

To support students in wearing the correct attire, our Uniform Shop is fully stocked with jumpers, jackets, and long pants in a variety of sizes, including the addition of a junior long sleeve blouse. A senior version will arrive shortly. We encourage families to visit the shop to purchase any necessary Winter items.

Road Safety around our school

The safety of students at our school is a high priority.

The beginning and end of the school day are busy times around schools. This is why everyone needs to take extra care in the 40km/h School Zone.

Unfortunately, some students have been observed displaying illegal or unsafe driving and/or parking behaviours in the school zone, putting themselves and others at risk.

In NSW, if a driver is found in breach of road rules, they may be issued with a fine and demerit points may be applied.

We kindly ask parents and carers of students who drive to school to have a conversation with their child and remind them of the following:

Drive safely

Slow down to 40km/h in the school zone and stay aware of crossings.
Always give way to pedestrians particularly when entering and leaving driveways.

Park legally and safely

Park safely and legally, even if it means walking further to the school gate.

Always park and turn legally around the school. U-turns and three-point turns are dangerous.

Never double park as it puts road users at risk.

Never park in a bus zone or in the school bus bay.

Don’t park across driveways or the entrance to the school car park.
