Faith Matters

at St Francis Xavier School

Dear St Francis Xavier Families,

Prayers in Pyjamas

Last Thursday we held our annual Prayers in Pyjamas evening. It was lovely to see all the families who attended and joined in with the engaging and prayerful experiences. The participation, positive comments and feedback was gratefully received. We love facilitating evenings like this when we can gather as a school community and spend time together in a joyful, sacred space. A huge thank you to the Year Prep and 1/2 staff for their creativity and organisation. A very special thank you to Mackenzie, one of our Year 6 Leaders, who volunteered to help set up and assist the staff on the evening.

Assumption Mass

Tomorrow is the Feast of the Assumption of Mary and a Holy Day of Obligation.  The whole school will attend the 9:15am mass. If your child arrives at 9am or after please take them directly to the church as there will be no staff available to supervise at school.

Whole School Prayer

There will be a Whole School Prayer next Friday morning August 29th at 9am in the classrooms. We welcome you to join us if you are available.

Term 3 Mass Roster

Thank you to the Year 3/4s who assisted Fr Chinua with mass last Friday, the Feast Day of St Mary of the Cross Mackillop. The Year 3/4s learnt a special St Mary of the Cross faith song to sing at the mass which was greatly appreciated. I received this email from Maureen the Parish Liturgy Coordinator the following day

"Dear Marion all went well.  Brendan and Debbie were very ready.   The children were so well prepared. Tell everyone the parishioners loved celebrating Mass with them.

God bless Thank you to everyone

Maureen"

Class Masses

Thursday, 28th August - Year 5/6

Tuesday, 16th September - Year 1/2

This term the Prep class will hold a Prayer Service in the Prep room at a date which will be confirmed within the next week or so.

Parish Jubilee Mass

On Sunday, 24th August we will be combining with St Augustine’s and St John’s for a ‘Unity is Hope’ Jubilee Multicultural Celebration at St John’s Church,  Frankston East. This will also be an opportunity to farewell Fr Chinua prior to his departure to Brisbane.

The day will commence with a mass at 10am during which our school and St Augustine’s have been invited to sing the Communion songs.

Our families are also invited to stay after mass for the luncheon and showcase of song and dance from various cultures. Families are welcome to bring a plate of something to share.

Grocery Donations Thank You

At St Francis Xavier school, we teach our students the value of thoughtfulness and the importance of recognising opportunities to help those in need. Thoughtfulness is at the heart of our faith, reflecting Jesus’ call to love and serve others. One small way we live this out is through our non perishable grocery collection, where families and staff can contribute food and essentials to support those facing hardship in our community. Every small act of kindness makes a difference, together our collective efforts create a spirit of compassion and generosity.

I would like to say a huge thank you to the families who are continuing to send grocery and other household items for us to pass on to John Paul College to distribute. We greatly appreciate your leading by example in nurturing caring hearts and thoughtful actions in our children.

Warmest wishes and God's blessings,
