The children have been really engaged with the program this Term. We started with our box construction and the children were enjoying decorating the boxes but we didn't see the children 'building' or turning the boxes into things. To support their creativity, we read the story 'Not a Box' by Antoinette Portis and looked at all the possibilies for turning our boxes into objects. The children were then turning their boxes into cars, presents, rockets and houses. To extend on this, we then read the story 'Not a Stick' by the same author and then made our 'stick' pictures. We are going to tun this into a class book to have in our reading corner. We have loved being outdoors in this beautiful Autumn weather, the junior playground is a big hit with all the children requesting to go play on the basket ball courts. We took out some bouncy balls and the children persisted with trying to shoot some hoops!
