Senior School

你 好 (ni hao)
Thank you to the families who came into our classroom on Wednesday to participate in and observe our senior open morning. Students proudly shared their learning during our novel studies and enjoyed having families involved in the classroom experience.
In Year 3/4 Maths, students have been continuing to strengthen their times table knowledge while learning and applying a range of multiplication strategies. We also worked on multiplication problem-solving tasks, encouraging students to explain their thinking and apply their understanding in different ways.
In English, students have been designing character maps for our novel study, The Sugarcane Kids and the Red Bottomed Boat. They explored how characters have developed throughout the story, including their thoughts, feelings, relationships, and the influences behind their decision making.
In Guided Inquiry, students continued designing their sustainable boats and experimented with digital design through the platform Tinkercad on their devices. Students demonstrated creativity and problem-solving skills as they explored different design features and tested ideas digitally.
3/4 Maths Homework update:
In Grade 3/4, students are currently building fluency with their times tables. To support this learning, optional homework has been provided through Google Classroom for Year 4 students and as printed copies for Year 3 students. These activities include strategies and problems that can be practised at home with families.
While not compulsory, the Year 3/4 teachers strongly encourage students to practise their times tables regularly, as multiplication fluency is an important part of the Mathematics curriculum.
We recommend around 10 minutes of practise each night throughout the term.
We hope you have had a lovely week.
Warm regards,
The Senior Team
Nick, Julia, Amanda, Gabby, Jonny, Miss Liu, Roz, Claire, Ciara, Jess and Sam
