VCE Vocational Major

Congratulations to our amazing VCE Vocational Major students Idris, Grayson and Mitchell for their successful participation in the Building and Construction Industry Immersion Program throughout this last week of term 2. An initiative of the Inner Northern Local Learning and Employment Network (INLLEN).

Thankyou to Bronwyn Haines, our VET/Work Experience and Structured Workplace Learning Coordinator for organising this experience for our students.

Our VCE VM students will have the opportunity to work in applied settings throughout the first week of term 4 as part of the Work Related Skills subject. Students will seek a week long work placement.

Please contact matt.dunn@education.vic.gov.au if your workplace is in a position to offer our students a work placement from October 5th to 9th.

Students in the VCE Vocational Major Personal Development class are creating a soccer-themed children’s book called ‘The Beautiful Game’. Embedded with collaborative soccer drills and discussion questions, the book aims to promote social engagement and capabilities in primary school students. This is a key extension of students' passion project from term 1 utilising the applied learning program at Viewbank College. Though the project is student-led, Holly Johnson, one of our education support staff members, will be leading the partnership between our students and local primary schools.

The VCE Vocational Major program at Viewbank College has been fortunate to partner with the Ceres Schools for Wildlife initiative again in 2026. Ellie Ware from CERES will oversee the program enabling our students to obtain valuable applied learning experiences in the field of biodiversity. This years program will consist of the following 3 incursions where interested VM students will participate in the following: Incursion 1 - 30-40 minute online webinar, Incursion 2 - moving soil and garden design, Incursion 3 Planting. Students have started prepping for the July/August incursions with some general garden maintenance and have enjoyed some time in the great outdoors over the last week of term.
