Year 7G and Year 7J Art & Design

Students developed and refined their artistic skills during the Progress Task: Micro/Macro Worlds.

The theme invited students to investigate both microscopic and macro environments. Microscopic worlds include cells, bacteria, tiny ecosystems, insects, and other small objects viewed at an enlarged scale. Macro worlds reveal the often-overlooked details of the natural world, highlighting the intricate textures, patterns, and colours found in flora and fauna. Through extreme close-up imagery, students discovered the beauty and complexity hidden within everyday subjects.

As a class, students primarily explored macro worlds through observational drawing. They carefully studied close-up reference images, such as bees, focusing on proportion, scale, detail, and accurate observation to create realistic representations.

Throughout the Progress Task and with a particular focus on the study of the Art Element of Texture, students also experimented with a range of mixed-media techniques. By combining different materials and processes, they explored ways to create visual and tactile textures, adding depth and interest to their artworks.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Ms. Natalie Conti
