English

In English, this week the students have concluded their knowledge rich unit on the 'Culture of Japan.'

In the final two weeks of school, the students will explore the knowledge rich unit, 'Christmas Around the World.' As part of this unit, the students will learn about classic Christmas stories, such as The Twelve Days of Christmas, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and The Night Before Christmas. They will also explore texts that connect to knowledge rich units from throughout the year, such as 'Joy to the World,' which looks at Christmas celebrations around the world, 'The Christmas Blessing,' which explores the role that farm animals played in the birth of baby Jesus, 'Santa Got Suck in a Gumtree,' which extends on students' understandings of Australian animals, and 'Why I Love Christmas,' which connects to personal family traditions.

Mathematics

Students have been learning about 3 digit subtraction, with re grouping twice and revising 'volume.'

Creative Connections

 In the final two weeks of school, students will engage in a range of activities that will connect to our 'Christmas Around the World,' unit. As part of this, students will create their own '12 Days of Christmas' books, Christmas wreaths and reindeers.
