Mr Adam Knight and Mrs Leigh Jackson
Congratulations to the Academic prize recipients who received their awards last week at the Marist College Ashgrove Annual Awards Night. We are proud of your success and look forward to your future academic accomplishments.
As we enter the last term of the year, please take note of the upcoming key academic dates:
Year 11 Academic interviews with Unit 1 and 2 ATAR estimations will begin in Week 5. Further information will be emailed to parents in the coming weeks.
Please see the follow link for information on Accessing Unit 2 Reports.
Last Tuesday, our Year 8 English students attended a live performance of The Stones, a powerful play based on a true story about two teenage boys whose reckless behaviour has tragic consequences.
The boys are to be congratulated on their excellent behaviour throughout the performance. It was clear that many students were challenged by the ideas presented and took a great deal from the experience.
Back in the classroom, students will be using the play as a springboard for their own creative responses. They will select a pivotal moment from the story and craft a dramatic monologue that explores a character’s perspective, thoughts and emotions.
Experiences such as this demonstrate the power of storytelling and live theatre to engage students with important ideas, prompting them to reflect deeply on both the text and the world around them.

As a reminder, if a student does not have an ATAR Portal account, they will not be able to see their ATAR on or after December 18.
The ATAR Portal sign-up link is here - QTAC
Year 12 students, please check your contact details are correct in your learning account with the QCAA student portal, https://myqce.qcaa.qld.edu.au. In March 2027, you will receive a letter from the Minister for Education and the Arts inviting you to participate in the Next Step Year 12 Completers survey, following up on your activities after graduating. You may also receive an email or phone call from the Queensland Government Statistician’s Office. Your feedback helps our school improve services for future students, and you can win a laptop for participating. For more information visit www.qld.gov.au/nextstep.
Please be advised that if leave is not approved for missed assessments (including assignments and exams), a summative mark of NA will appear on your son’s End of Semester Academic Report for the relevant subject. In accordance with the College Examination Policy (available via the Parent Portal) and QCAA guidelines, events such as holidays, weddings, or family reunions are not considered unavoidable and will result in an NA for the missed assessment.
Students will still be required to complete the assessment upon their return to school; however, no assessments will be scheduled earlier. Reports will be withheld until all assessments have been completed.
While students will receive formative feedback on the completed assessment, the result will not contribute to their summative grade due to the following reasons:
The validity of assessment results within the designated timelines
Please note that this does not apply to leave that has been granted for approved reasons (illness, etc.) as per QCAA policies.
A reminder to now ensure that your son has the correct equipment necessary for External exams. The list of prescribed equipment can be found here - External assessment equipment list (qcaa.qld.edu.au).
Tutoring support will take place in the Senior Library and is open to all boys in Years 7 to 12.

Please find here a list of Old Boys who are available to tutor your son outside of school hours. This list can also be located on the parent portal > School Links > General Links or via this link -
Please note it is the parent’s responsibility to organise and liaise tutoring times with the Old Boys.
