Day for Daniel – Keeping Our Boys Safe
This Friday 23 October, Marist College Ashgrove will recognise Day for Daniel, an important national day that reminds us of the responsibility we all share in keeping children and young people safe.
As a College, the safety and wellbeing of our boys is at the heart of everything we do. Day for Daniel provides an important opportunity to continue conversations with our students about personal safety, online safety, recognising unsafe situations, speaking up and knowing where to turn for help. Equipping our boys with this knowledge helps them develop the confidence to look after themselves, make safe choices and look out for their mates.
Students and staff are encouraged to wear red for our Free Dress Day and support the
themes “Wear Red, Educate and Donate” and “Keeping Kids Safe”.
Throughout the day, students in Years 5–10 will participate in dedicated safety presentations, providing practical, age-appropriate information to help them navigate both the online and wider world safely.
We encourage students to wear RED for the day, and donations can be made via Monitor ID cards ($2.00, $5.00 or $10.00 options). Rush house will be running a BBQ in Break 1. Sausages, and drinks will be $3.00, popcorn $2.50 and cookies are $1.50. Please ensure to top up students Monitor cards.
Donations made on the day will go to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation.
Most importantly, Day for Daniel reminds us that keeping our boys safe is a shared responsibility. Through education, open conversations and a community that looks out for one another, we can empower our young men to feel confident speaking up, seeking help and supporting their mates when something does not feel right.
Wear red, educate, donate and help us keep our boys safe.
On Thursday 22nd from 6.30 – 7.30pm there will be a parent and carer information evening held. You are able to log into this discussion with Kirra Pendergast using the link below;

On Wednesday, we will farewell our Year 12 students at their final House meeting. As they approach their upcoming examinations and the next chapter of their lives, we wish them every success and encourage them to approach this important time with confidence, resilience and a belief in their abilities.
We recognise that this can be an exciting yet challenging period, filled with a mix of emotions as students prepare to conclude their secondary school journey. We hope they take pride in all they have achieved, cherish the memories and friendships they have made, and look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead.
We wish our Year 12 students all the very best for their examinations. They will always remain a valued part of our House community, and we look forward to celebrating their many achievements through our Graduation events.
The RACQ Driver IQ Learner Program will explore proactive approaches to support Learner Drivers and Supervisors to ‘BOOST’ the minimum 100-hour driving experience. Through this program, our students will be encouraged to see every drive as a lesson which is intentional and personalised to their skills and experience. They will also be asked to consider what it means to be a ‘good mate’ in the passenger seat so that everyone in the car gets home safely.
