What a great week of learning has occurred in Foundation during the past week!
Last Tuesday, the Foundation students attended an Incursion run by Tess from Supreme Incursions. This term, our Inquiry Unit “What’s My Story, What’s Your Story” looks at our personal history from birth to now, how our parents and grandparents have had different experiences at school, and how the toys our parents and grandparents played with differ from our own toys now. During the incursion we were given time and opportunity to explore many different toys, what they were made of, how they could be used and how they have changed over time. This incursion was the perfect launch pad to assist us with our learning about toys from the past and toys that we have in 2026.
As Mathematicians, we have explored different ways to break up numbers into two parts. We have become very confident in showing our learning in a variety of ways, using number bonds, tens frames, and with a variety of scenarios, such as using a fish tank and cubby house templates. Counters and unifix blocks have been the materials we have used to show Part/Part Whole.
During our Resilience Project lesson, we explored Mindfulness as we created elephant ears to wear outside to listen to the different sounds in the environment. It was a beautiful sunny day as we wore our elephant ears to listen to cars going past on the road, birds singing, babies crying, children talking and lawnmowers. Mindfulness allows us all to be calm, relaxed and happy and to focus on the sounds we hear, either loud or soft, within our environment.
This week we will be learning about:
Numeracy- 2D Shapes
Reading- revision of sounds m, s, t, a, p, i, f, r, o, c, d, h, e, n, g, l, stretching out words, blending the sounds together and reading tricky words I, my, the, a, is, was, you, to, that, they, said
Writing- writing about our experiences, recording different sounds we can hear in the words we want to write and using full stops and spacing between words
Inquiry- Our family history
