National Simultaneous Storytime 2026

On Wednesday 27th May, Highvale Primary proudly joined thousands of students and schools across Australia in celebrating National Simultaneous Storytime 2026!
This year’s featured story was LUNA ROO: The Kangaroo Baller by Adam Wallace and Adrian Beck — a heartwarming underdog story about courage, determination and believing in yourself. Students gathered together to enjoy the live reading, celebrate the joy of storytelling, and participate in a range of fun classroom activities inspired by the book.
To build excitement for the event, students and staff were invited to wear their favourite sports jerseys over their school uniforms, creating a wonderful atmosphere filled with school spirit, colour and enthusiasm across the school.
The celebrations will continue on Friday, as the HPS oval comes alive with energy and excitement during recess for two friendly Students vs. Teachers soccer matches. Filled with laughter, teamwork and spirited cheers from the sidelines, these matches will be a joyful celebration of sportsmanship, connection and community spirit across our school.
National Simultaneous Storytime continues to be a fantastic opportunity to foster a love of reading, imagination and community connection. We thank all staff, students and families for helping make this year’s celebration such a memorable one!
