🐾 I Love My Pet! 我爱我的宠物 for the Junior primary
Our Junior Primary students have been learning to talk about pets in Chinese in the first few weeks! They have explored the names of eight popular animals: little mouse(小老鼠), cat (猫), hamster (仓鼠), guinea pig (豚鼠), cat (猫), dog (狗), horse (马), bird (鸟), bunny (兔子) and practised saying their names in Mandarin. Through songs, the online language tool LanguageNut, and worksheets, students have been slowly building their Chinese vocabulary, improving their pronunciation, and developing confidence in recognising Hanzi (Chinese Characters).
A highlight of the unit has been learning a popular Chinese nursery rhyme, 《小老鼠上灯台》 (Xiǎo Lǎoshǔ Shàng Dēngtái), meaning The Little Mouse Climbed onto the Lampstand. Students have enjoyed singing along and joining in with the lively rhythm of this traditional rhyme. They are developing their listening and speaking skills while exploring Chinese language and culture in a joyful and meaningful way.
👨👩👧👦 Meet Me in Mandarin! 自我介绍 for the Senior Primary
Our Senior Primary students have been working hard to prepare for their Chinese self-introduction reading/speaking task! They have been learning to introduce themselves in Mandarin in 9 sentences, including greetings, their name, age, school, nationality, languages spoken and family members. Through practising sentence patterns and playing educational games on Blooket, students are developing a deeper understanding of the sentence structures and the Chinese phrases used in their speaking tasks.
It has been wonderful to see students taking risks, giving their best and stepping out of their comfort zones as they practise delivering their self-introductions naturally and confidently. Some students are even challenging themselves to memorise their lines and present their introductions by heart! Every attempt is a valuable step towards becoming a successful life-long learner🌟!

Special news - The Oval
The workers have been adding various types of sand to the new grass on the oval, and the sprinklers have been on to ensure the grass grows and settles properly. Hopefully, with the weekend rain, we will be able to use the Oval in week 5 or 6, once it has fully sown and settled, so the children can use it for playtimes and Physical education classes.
