Around the College

On Wednesday, 22nd April, we had our Live4Life Launch for the Year 8’s, who are commencing their mental health first aid training. Our amazing Live4Life Crew set up and ran stalls where students could get their faces and hair painted, mindfully draw on paper or on the pavement with chalk, make jewellery, or win prizes in a quiz (a crowd favourite).

We also had two Year 11 bands perform, creating a great atmosphere for everyone. Thank you to Beth Winterhalter for organising this for us. It was a beautiful day and hopefully a chance for the Year 8’s to understand a bit more about the purpose of their training and to improve the wellbeing of all!

Science in Action: From Hearts to Cells

Our Science labs have been full of hands-on learning across Year 8 and Year 10.

Year 8 students explored the circulatory system through a heart dissection, identifying key structures and developing their observation and practical skills. The photos show students working with focus and confidence in the lab.

Year 10 Biology students conducted a complete investigation into cell division—growing onion roots, preparing their own slides, and observing mitosis under the microscope. This process helped bring their understanding of cell division to life.

It’s been fantastic to see students so engaged, building both their scientific knowledge and practical skills.

Year 8 students work with precision to dissect and document the structure of a lamb’s heart.
