Catholic Identity and Mission

Ms Nicole Dudman - Director

ANZAC Day was marked by the College through both community representation and a whole-school commemoration. On Saturday, 25 April, Erin Dell, Owen Maskell and Rosie Witteveen represented Mary MacKillop Catholic Regional College at the ANZAC Day Commemoration in Korumburra, including the 10:15 am service at the Korumburra Cenotaph in Coleman Park. We are grateful for their generosity in giving their time to recite the ANZAC Requiem, and David Jackson, President of the Korumburra RSL, also expressed his appreciation for their contribution.

The College also gathered on Tuesday, 28 April, for our school ANZAC Day Liturgy. This year’s commemoration was shaped by the theme: “‘Unarmed and Disarming Peace’, and Peace as an Action.” The liturgy invited students and staff to remember the courage, endurance, and sacrifice of the ANZACs and all who have served, while also reflecting on the call to be people who actively build peace. Through prayer, Scripture, reflection, the laying of symbols, the Ode of Remembrance, the Last Post, a minute’s silence, and the National Anthem, the College community was encouraged to remember with gratitude, sorrow, and hope.

This was a respectful and meaningful occasion that connected national remembrance with our Catholic identity, reminding us that peace is not simply the absence of conflict, but something we are called to practise in our words, relationships and daily actions.
