Principal's

Report

A message from our Principal

With Term 1 drawing to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the many positive contributions from across our community. Our recent school review has been greatly strengthened by the thoughtful input of our students, staff, and families. Your willingness to engage, reflect, and provide feedback is invaluable as we continue to grow and improve our school together.

This term has also provided our students with a range of fantastic experiences beyond the classroom. Our Year 7 students enjoyed their adventure camp at Phillip Island, while our Year 8 students challenged themselves at Forest Edge. Our Year 10 Outdoor Ed students undertook the Great Ocean Walk, and our Year 11 students experienced the unique environment of Mount Buffalo. These real-world learning opportunities build resilience, independence, and connection, and are a valued part of the Sunbury College experience.

I would also like to warmly welcome and thank our new School Council. I look forward to working closely with this dedicated group- Rebecca Bereshnyj, Bernadetta Martella (Treasurer), Katie Nichols, Kirsty Norman, Tracey Ozanne (President), Molly Payne, Lance Robertson (Vice-President), Michaela Bench, and Becky Annetts. Their commitment to the school is greatly appreciated.

Our student leaders are also to be congratulated for delivering a truly wonderful Harmony Day celebration. It was fantastic to see many students proudly wearing traditional dress and sharing food prepared with their families or teachers. These moments of cultural sharing and connection are deeply important and reflect our school value of respect. I would also like to acknowledge and thank Ms McRae, our Student Leadership Development Coordinator, for her work in supporting our students to shine on the day.

I would also like to thank our Inclusion and Wellbeing Team for their work in recognising International Women’s Day within our school. Events like these not only celebrate important values but also strengthen our collective commitment to respect and responsibility.

Finally, I extend my sincere thanks to our families for your ongoing partnership throughout Term 1, and to our students for their outstanding start to the year. Your enthusiasm, effort, and positive attitude set a strong tone for the months ahead.

I look forward to all that we will achieve together in 2026.

Warm Regards

Craig O'Bree
