Year 9 and 10

It’s been a busy and productive end to the term, with students continuing to build positive learning habits, strengthen relationships, and engage in a wide variety of opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom.

As always, we appreciate the ongoing support from families and encourage you to stay connected with what’s happening at school. We look forward to an exciting Term 2 after the break.

Year 9

As we near the end of Term 1, our Year 9 students should be proud of the excellent start they've made to 2026! The first Work Habit Ratings were recently released, and students have engaged thoughtfully in their Pastoral Care classes, reflecting on their progress and setting new goals for the next cycle. We enjoyed seeing many of our students and their families at the recent Parent Student Teacher Interviews on Tuesday, 31 March.

We’ve been pleased to see a recent improvement in students coming to class prepared and ready to learn. This positive shift has been fantastic, and we would like to acknowledge both our students and their families for their support in making this happen. Additionally, our Year 9s demonstrated the College values of Respect, Resilience, Responsibility and Endeavour throughout NAPLAN - well done!

Outside the classroom, we’d like to congratulate our Year 9 volleyball players and cricketers for their participation in interschool sports this term. It’s fantastic to see so many students representing Sunbury College with pride.

We look forward to seeing all students next term, specifically at the Year 9 Adventure Day which is taking place in Term 2!

Year 10

Year 10s have continued to have a busy term, managing their academic commitments while also finalising their work experience placements for Term 2. We have had some exciting excursions happen, with students being able to apply their in class learning to the real world.

The Year 10 Outdoor Education class drove down to Queenscliff where they went snorkelling. Students and teachers were lucky enough to see three pods of dolphins and swim in the water with them. They were also able to swim next to seals and enjoyed some fun activities on the boat such as the rope swing and jumping off the roof!

Our Year 10 Geography class took to the streets of Melbourne to discover how Docklands has changed over the last 150 years and collected valuable data that contributed to their Fieldwork Report. They stopped at eight locations and analysed that area’s level of sustainability and how the area had changed over time to accommodate the vastly growing population.

Year 10s are encouraged to focus on preparing for their first round of exams in Term 2 where they will apply their knowledge from all of their subjects in preparation for the skills needed in Senior School. Students will have a focus in PC in Term 2 on study skills and preparing for this next milestone.
