Principal Team's Message

Our Assistant Principals reflect on Term One

Term 1 Celebrations

Our first term of the 2026 school year has passed quickly with many exciting events and excursions for students including: sports events, excursions linked to different subject curricula, visits to our local primary schools, and days of celebration.

On 6th March, International Women’s Day was celebrated through PC sessions, with a 5 minute video featuring staff talking about women who inspire them; music performances at brunch time; and the chance for students to contribute to a paper chain of messages of gratitude.

Culture Day was celebrated on Tuesday 17th March as part of our recognition of Harmony Week - a week recognising Australia’s diversity and bringing together people from different backgrounds. Our student leadership team did a wonderful job organising events to raise money for local charities, in celebration of the growing diversity at the College. Our Inclusion and Wellbeing team also offered a number of activities to celebrate multiculturalism, with a scavenger hunt, colouring, and a world map to represent our diverse cultural roots. Thank you to all those who volunteered to bring in home made snacks that represent their culture, and to all those who organised and participated in the different activities on offer.

NAPLAN

Despite a state-wide interruption on day one of the tests, all NAPLAN tests were completed successfully by Year 7 and 9 students by Friday 20th March. As in previous years, our students were well-behaved and focussed on completing their tests, and we’d like to acknowledge the endeavour and responsibility they showed. NAPLAN tests cause changes to usual timetables, classrooms, and lessons, yet all the students affected by these alterations demonstrated maturity and resilience throughout the two weeks of testing.

Parent Teacher Student Conferences

A big thank you to all students, parents and carers who attended our Term 1 Parent Teacher Student Conferences on Tuesday 31 March. Conferences are a great opportunity to celebrate successes and to work in partnership to identify areas for improvement and goals for the next learning cycle. Students, parents and carers can also take in recent Work Habits Reports and the submission of learning tasks on Compass as part of the feedback loop.

Out of class logs

2026 has seen the introduction of the Out of Class log on Compass. In short, the use of the log allows the student and family to track the frequency in which students leave the learning environment with permission from the teacher. Learning time is best spent in the classroom and students should be maximising their learning time by:

  • Visiting the toilet during break times.
  • Bringing a water bottle to class
  • Charging their device and bringing it class
  • Checking their schedules ahead of time, and making sure they bring all of the correct equipment to class.

The Out of Class log is visible to parents and students through the Compass Chronicle. If you feel that your child is making use of the out of class log too much, please set some goals and strategies around maximising learning time and if need be, contact your child’s Year Level Coordinator or Significant Teacher (Year 7).

Uniform

School uniforms are important because they create a sense of equality and belonging among students. When everyone wears the uniform in line with the Uniform Policy, it reduces distractions and helps students focus more on learning rather than clothing differences. Uniforms also promote school pride and represent the values of the school community. Students are not permitted to wear a non school jumper/hoodie to and from school and during the school day. This approach contributes to student safety.

As the days start to become cooler, families are encouraged to check the provision of warmer layers including, the College Spray Jacket, Soft Shell and the V neck maroon jumper.

The Academy Uniforms shop in Sunbury (PSW store at 6/106–126 Gap Road) is open Wednesday to Friday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

We’d like to wish all students and their families a restful break over the holidays, and for those who celebrate Easter…enjoy the chocolates!

Warm regards
