Year 11 and 12

It has been a busy end to Term 1. The Coordinators have enjoyed getting to know our students and look forward to continuing to support them through 2026. We encourage all to have a safe and productive break so that all students return from the holiday refreshed and ready to learn. As always, we encourage you to reach out to your child’s coordinator if you have any concerns.
Year 11
We congratulate our Year 11s on making it through their first term of VCE and VCE VM. VCE is a two year certificate and it is important that students develop strong habits early on so they can achieve their best.
By now our Year 11 VCE and VCE VM students will have completed the first outcomes in all of their subjects. We encourage parents and carers to access Compass to view their child’s results and to discuss their progress with them. We hope those of you that attended our conferences this week were able to have helpful discussions with your child’s teachers and feel well positioned to continue to support them to succeed.
We have had lots of Year 11 pairs sign up to take part in the Sunbury College Presentation Balls for 2025. Details for this year’s Year 11 Formal will be shared early next term. We look forward to enjoying these much anticipated events with you.

Year 11 Geography
In week 6, the Year 11 Geography class conducted some fieldwork around Kismet Creek and Salesian Bridge.
Students visited several sites that are at risk of flooding in the local region. They also discussed the social, economic and environmental impacts that can be attributed to heavy rainfall.
Students enjoyed getting offsite for half the day to develop their research and fieldwork skills and learnt about the different ways that Sunbury is connected to surrounding regions, including our waterways. Jackson's Creek is a tributary to the Maribyrnong River, which experienced severe flooding several years ago. Students learnt how heavy rainfall upstream can have damaging impacts on those living further downstream.
They will use their findings from this investigation to assist with writing a formal SAC later in the term.
Year 12
What an incredible start to 2026! As we reflect on Term 1, it’s clear that many of our students have made a positive start to the year, demonstrating commitment and motivation and striving to achieve their best. The enthusiasm and drive are already shining through, and it's inspiring to see how you've embraced this pivotal year.
Throughout this term, students have worked on making meaningful connections with teachers and have continued to build strong relationships with one another, making it a wonderful Year 12 community. The connections being formed with teachers, staff and TAFE will be invaluable in the months ahead, as students continue to work closely together, developing the skills and knowledge necessary for success.
As we look ahead to Terms 2 and 3, our morning PC sessions will continue to focus on starting our day prepared and ready to learn, with uniform checks, equipment checks, and ensuring school diaries are taken to all classes and used effectively. Diaries are an essential part of ensuring preparedness and organisation, allowing students to be prepared for assessments and timetable study routines in and around extracurricular activities.
With the days getting shorter and cooler please be reminded that hoodies and visible long sleeve undergarments are NOT part of the uniform and cannot be worn underneath the school uniform.
As we continue this journey together, remember, Year 12s, that you are not alone. We’re all in this together – your teachers, your peers, your coordinators and the wider school community are here to support you every step of the way. Let’s continue to make the most of this amazing year, stay focused on your goals, and work together to create lasting memories and achievements.
Here’s to an exciting and successful Year 12 journey ahead!
