Appreciating the People Who Support Us

Over the past fortnight, students have participated in a range of engaging discussions designed to challenge their thinking and prepare them for life beyond school. We explored questions such as, “If you had to move out tomorrow, how would you survive?” and discussed the many responsibilities involved in independent living, including household chores, budgeting, cooking, and managing daily routines.

These conversations encouraged students to reflect on the skills required for adulthood whilst also developing a greater appreciation for the people who support and care for them every day.

This week, we turned our attention to recognising the staff members who have made a positive impact on our students' school journeys over the past six months.

Students selected a staff member who has been meaningful to them and created a personalised poster featuring their name, drawings, and written messages explaining why they are appreciated and how they have made a difference.

The activity was incredibly heart-warming, with students demonstrating genuine gratitude and thoughtfulness as they reflected on the positive relationships they have built at school.

It was wonderful to see students acknowledge the support, encouragement, and care they have received. We are sure the staff members who received these posters felt valued and appreciated.

We are very proud of the maturity, reflection, and kindness our students displayed throughout these activities.
