Careers & Pathways
Senior School Years 9 - 12
Wednesday 24th June
In the final week of Term 2, all Year 10 students will participate in university and TAFE tours as part of our Careers Exploration program. These tours are designed to give students a valuable first-hand insight into tertiary study options as they begin to consider their future pathways.
Details of each student’s allocated tour, including departure and return times, are available on Compass. This excursion is organised by the Careers Department and is provided at no cost to families.
We have done our best to place students in one of their preferred destinations. However, due to high demand for some tours and limited availability, not all students were able to attend their first choice. Where possible, students have been allocated their second preference or a similar institution that provides comparable opportunities and insights.
Parent/carer consent is required for all students to attend. Please log into Compass and provide permission as soon as possible to assist us in finalising transport and supervision arrangements. If you experience any issues accessing Compass, please contact the General Office for support, 9801 9700.
Year 10 Uni & TAFE tours are a compulsory excursion, and we strongly encourage all students to take part. It is an important opportunity to explore different pathways, visit campuses, engage with staff and students, and gain a better understanding of study and career options beyond school.
Whether students have a clear plan for their future or are still exploring their options, this experience will support informed decision-making and help guide subject selections moving forward.
We look forward to an engaging and inspiring day of learning beyond the classroom.
Upcoming university and TAFE open days will also provide further opportunities for students and families to explore campuses, courses, and facilities in more detail. If students were unable to attend their preferred institution on this tour, we strongly encourage them to consider visiting during an open day to gain a better understanding of the options available. Please follow this link for a list of Open Days.
At lunchtime today, students popped into the Pathways Hub to hear from Monash Uni students, grab some prizes, and get real tips on Open Day and subject choices.

Over the past week, Year 9 students have been participating in their Morrisby interviews, working one-on-one with trained practitioners to explore and better understand the results of their recent career profiling assessment.
In these sessions, students reflect on their individual strengths, interests, and potential future pathways.
We have been impressed by the way students have approached the process, demonstrating responsibility by checking their Teams messages, attending their interviews punctually, and engaging thoughtfully in discussions about their results. Their positive attitude and curiosity have been noted by our visiting career practitioners.
Interviews will continue into next week, with any remaining sessions scheduled for completion at the beginning of Term 3.
All students now have access to their Morrisby results through the online portal. We encourage families to take the time to review these together, as they can offer meaningful insights to support subject selection and future planning. The information gained through this process plays an important role in helping students make informed decisions about their learning and career directions.
We look forward to seeing how students build on these insights as they begin planning for Year 10 and beyond.
Upcoming university and TAFE open days will also provide further opportunities for students and families to explore campuses, courses, and facilities in more detail. If students were unable to attend their preferred institution on this tour, we strongly encourage them to consider visiting during an open day to gain a better understanding of the options available. Open days.
We recently had the pleasure of taking 19 of our students to the Tech and Trade Fit Expo at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, and it was a fantastic day filled with energy, curiosity and hands-on learning.

Students were fully immersed in a range of engaging activities, from driving a simulator tractor, to getting an insight into livestock care and management, and even building their own bench seat (which proudly joined us for lunch and the train ride home!).

Students enjoyed the opportunity to try real skills in a practical setting, as well as giving them a taste of trade pathways, the day was fun and memorable. The excitement and enthusiasm from students was clear, with many already asking if they can return next year, including our Year 12 students, who were disappointed to hear they’ve had their turn!

A great day out and a wonderful opportunity for students to explore future pathways in a hands-on and engaging way.
Many universities, TAFEs and training providers also run a range of hands-on holiday workshops over the upcoming school break, offering students another great opportunity to explore areas of interest.
From unique experiences such as programs at Melbourne Zoo, to creative workshops in fashion and jazz, as well as sessions exploring science facilities and technologies, there is something to suit a wide range of interests.
These short programs give students a fun and engaging way to step onto campuses, try new skills, and gain a deeper insight into what studying and life after high school can look like.
For students who are still exploring their options, or who want to experience an area they are curious about, these workshops are a valuable and enjoyable way to continue their career exploration journey.
