Growing Beyond Earth Program

Following the success of last year's trial, we are excited to announce that our school is once again participating in the Growing Beyond Earth program, in partnership with NASA. Joining over 31 schools across Australia as well as over 200 in the US, this innovative project allows students to contribute to real-world space agricultural research, helping scientists explore the possibilities of growing food beyond our planet.
This year, we are proud to expand the program to include both Year 9 and Year 10 students. Our new cohort has already launched Noval Crops Trial 1, where we are investigating the growth and viability of three promising leafy greens: Cos Lettuce, Australian Yellow Lettuce, and the Australian Native Wintercress.
The students are actively involved in designing experiments, monitoring plant growth under controlled conditions, and collecting data that may one day support sustainable life on future space missions. It’s an inspiring blend of science, sustainability, and innovation—grounded in Earth, but reaching for the stars.
Stay tuned for updates as we grow and discover together!
