Year 7 and 8

Dear Parents and Carers,

I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new Acting Year 7 and 8 Sub School Leader. Mel Casha has stepped into the role of Acting Assistant Principal while John Lane is on leave for the term, and I’m excited to be working alongside our three enthusiastic and dedicated new coordinators. Together, we’ve been focusing on getting to know your child—not just academically, but also in terms of their social and emotional wellbeing.

Term 2 has had a busy and energetic start! Our students participated in two major events—the ANZAC Day service and the Athletics Carnival. The ANZAC Day service was respectfully observed by our junior students, who took time to reflect on and honour those who have served to protect Australian values. The Athletics Carnival was held on a surprisingly warm day (a welcome change from the usual chilly wind at Keilor Athletics Track!). It was fantastic to see students running, jumping, and throwing with enthusiasm. One of the highlights for me was witnessing the camaraderie among students and the strong peer support and encouragement throughout the day.

We’ve also been impressed by the strong work ethic across the Junior School, with an average Work Habits score of 3.67. This is something both students and the broader school community can be proud of, reflecting the commitment students are showing in every lesson.

A key focus for us this term is student organisation and readiness to learn. While many students are showing great responsibility, we are still seeing some students arriving to class without the necessary materials, which can disrupt their learning. We ask for your support in reminding your child of the importance of bringing the correct equipment to every class.

Thank you for your ongoing support—we’re looking forward to a great term ahead.

Warm regards

Egmond Molenaar
