A message from our principal

Dear Sunbury College community,

It has been a remarkable year for the Performing Arts at Sunbury College, and I am proud to celebrate the achievements that have brought creativity, energy, and pride to our school community.

Our involvement in the Victorian State School Spectacular in 2025 is a major highlight. This state-wide event showcases Victoria’s most talented students, and we were thrilled to see Sunbury College so strongly represented. Congratulations to Ruby Edwards, Eloise and Isobel Henry, Macy Harvie, Mila Morison, and Ava Quarrell, who were all selected as Principal Dancers — a prestigious honour that reflects their exceptional dedication and talent. Travis Boase earned a place as one of a very small number of Principal Singers, an extraordinary achievement that speaks to his vocal excellence. Behind the scenes, Jynx Bailey played a crucial role as part of the lighting team, bringing professionalism and creativity to this high-calibre production. Each of these students represented Sunbury College with distinction.

Another highlight this year will be our vibrant and imaginative school production of Alice in Wonderland. This colourful reimagining of the classic tale will showcase the creativity and commitment of our students, staff, and volunteers. From outstanding performances on stage to the impressive work of our backstage and technical teams, the production will be a true school community effort and a wonderful celebration of student voice and talent.

In addition to these major events, I’m also pleased to acknowledge the strength and growth of our instrumental music program, which now boasts 99 students actively participating. Whether learning strings, brass, woodwind, percussion, or voice, these students are building valuable skills, confidence, and friendships — and contributing to the rich musical culture of our school. Their performances at assemblies, concerts, and events have added a powerful soundtrack to our school year.

These achievements are a testament not only to the dedication of our students but also to the passion and guidance of our Performing Arts staff, led by our dedicated and talented Performing Arts Coordinator, Candeece Brown. I’d also like to thank our families and the broader community for your ongoing support. The Performing Arts are a vital part of education at Sunbury College, fostering creativity, collaboration, and personal growth. It is heartening to see them continue to flourish.

Best wishes

Craig O’Bree

Principal

❗️Reminder about safe and respectful parking in our local community

We continue to prioritise the safety of our students, and I’d like to take this opportunity to remind families about the importance of safe and respectful parking during school drop-off and pick-up times.

We kindly ask all parents and carers to observe local traffic rules and signage, avoid stopping in no-parking or no-stopping zones, and ensure that driveways and footpaths are kept clear. Please take extra care when driving near the school, particularly during busy periods, and encourage your children to use designated crossings and entry points safely.

As a reminder, the school’s bus drop-off area and staff car park are not places for drop-off or pick-up of your child as this presents a safety risk.

Thank you for your ongoing cooperation and support in keeping our students safe and being considerate members of our broader community.
